Because of the water and premium habitat, the S&L Ranch has one of the highest densities of moose found anywhere in the state, with as many as 14 moose having been spotted at one time in one canyon alone. The ranch is a majority part of the Woodruff Creek South CWMU for deer, elk, and moose. The larger CWMU gets 2 landowner moose tags, 18 landowner bull elk tags, and 9 landowner buck deer tags, all of which can be legally sold for a profit. These tags are split 50/50 with the neighboring ranch, which is also a part of the same CWMU.
